The City of Gulfport

Gulfport is an eclectic collection of artists, places to eat and great city amenities.  This attracts a huge crowd of snowbirds to enjoy the sunshine and mingle with the creative set.  A lot of folks arrive by boat and more than a few seem to live aboard here in the anchorage.  Cheaper than rent ashore, I'm guessing.  In the waterfront district, we enjoy walking the boulevards looking at how people have decorated their houses and yards.  We saw no lawns only natural settings of sand and shells or beautifully lush gardens.  It made me miss my own yard but I picked up some ideas.
This is what you see from the bayside.  It is the back of the Gulfport Casino.  The sign out front explaining it status as an historic structure also explains that Casino originally meant a place of gathering in Italian.  There have never been any games of chance here.  It is an active gathering place.  They have dances, bands, art shows and much more almost every day.

The colorful restaurants along the water front..

Majestic oaks are all over.

The main road along the water front.

One of the tree lined streets leading off  thewater.

A popular anchorage.  You'd see even more if I had a wide angle lens.

It can be tough to find a spot at the dingy dock.

If you think we have varnish work, these masts and booms are all wood.  This is a true labor or love.  They have to keep those things protected from the sun or invite rot.
