Some History in Key West

There is a lot of places in Key West directly linked to our American history.  Because of the warm weather, plentiful fish and deep ports it has been a popular spot for Presidents to come vacation and the U.S. Navy has had an enduring presence here as well.  Of course Ernest Hemingway made his place in history here as well.  One joke is that it is a rare bar indeed that doesn't claim that Hemingway drank there!  Riding our bikes around was the perfect way to see the real Key West.
The entrance to Hemingway's house.  The line was long

Harry Truman really loved Key West and vacationed here as often as he could.

This area was once Navy property but is now privately owned and the old officer's housing is available to purchase.

The Little White House from the street.

The southern most point is marked by this big buoy.  The line was way too long for me.
We had our pictures from the last time we were here and that is enough.

This is a new statue in front of the customs house.  Demaris and Kelley kindly showed us how to strike the right pose!
