Night Sail to Fort Myers Beach

What a difference a few days make.  This crossing was a bit shorter time wise but 100% more pleasant.  The winds came as forecast as well as the waves.  We had to motor for a time when the winds died but for the most part we sailed with main, mizzen and jib and made respectable speed.  We did 50 mile long tacks to keep things comfortable but so worth it.  We arrived in Fort Myers Beach around 10:45 after 22 hours out.  That left us time to get things squared away on the boat and take the dingy to register our mooring and walk the town a bit.  We plan to stay here until Monday then continue our trek south.  The moorings and yacht club in Marathon have long waiting lists so we may not be in a hurry.  As always, the weather decides.
Coast Guard cutter heading in to Tampa Bay.  Sure glad they're here.

One of our better ideas.  These viewing ports allow us to check sail trim underway but the velcro strips hold shade panels in place to keep the sun off.  We have them on both sides of the bimini depending on which tack we're on.

Half-moon.  It was an amazing blood orange when it set.

It was a smooth enough ride we each were able to take a shower.  After staying awake most of the night, at least we were clean.

Traditional conch blowing at sunset.

Even this sunset was better than the last passage's.
