South Bimini

We loaded our bikes onto the ferry for the 3 minute ride across the gap between North and South Bimini.  Some folks we crossed over here with at the marina on that island..  We also wanted to see some of the sights that we have seen before or missed since we were on foot last trip.
The gap between the islands is small but deep with a swift running current.
Not one I'd want to have to swim across for my commute.  The ferry runs
every few minutes and is only $2 each way per person.

We rode to one end of the island where the airport sits.  There was a variety
of airplanes from sleek newer jets to planes with 3 flat tires.  There is a charter
service bringing in tourists

Bimini Sands marina was well kept and looked great.  It's drawbacks
were cost and remoteness.

One of the several canals dug to make more waterfront property at the south
end of the island.

Conch shells were once heavily used in the construction mix.  You can see them
in this house that is in the process of falling down.

This house was built in the 30s and abandoned some time in the 70s.

One more place promising to be the one found by Ponce De Leon.

It was a deep well and it did have water.  A young man had just taken a bottle
of water when we arrived.  We passed him later smoking a cigarette.  I wonder
if he saw the irony.
