Out and About

We are finally drawing close to being on our way to our next destination.  It has been a mostly pleasant stay with just a few glitches.  Happily, all glitches have been overcome and we're ready to move on.  Even the weather seems to be lining up for us.  We have paid for our mooring ball through Saturday morning and plan to take off early and head up to Rodriguez Key on the 11th.  We found a good rate on a rental car so reserved one for 2 days.  One day to go south and stock up at the Key West NAS commissary and NEX.  We enjoyed the drive down and back and saved some money to boot. The next day we went north and picked up Marsha and Ralph and went to meet some friends who competed in the Everglades Challenge.  A race from Fort Desoto in the Tampa Bay pass to Key Largo.  This year has been especially challenging since the winds have been near gale force and all the boats are small, including kayaks!  Randy was already in but Linda was still duking it out with the weather demons so we didn't get to see her.  They are both amazing people!  Randy designed his boat and constantly tweeks it.  He is a Olympic medalist and seems to instinctively know how to make boats go.  Linda is on a Weta, trimaran.  A small, open boat that has to be a wet ride in the best of conditions.  She is a talented sailor and a real trooper.  After saying so long to Randy, we made one last stop for all the things we couldn't find in Key West and between the 4 of us, filled the trunk of the rental and now we really have no spare room on the boat so it's time to go.
Randy and Sizzor.  He finished almost 24 hours ahead of the next boat.

The colors of the water are a joy to behold.  We never tire of looking at the
variations in blue.

If you are fans of the Netflix series Bloodline, look for this house in the upcoming season.
Marsha and Ralph said the crew is filming all over the keys but especially in their area.  The same
helicopter we saw down here last week was filming as we drove to Key Largo.

This is how cruisers return rental cars.  I put the folder in the trunk,
reassembled at the airport and completed the return.  Easy-peasy.
