Up to Peck Lake

We wanted to meet David's cousin Jake in the Melbourne area by Wednesday and there was a storm in the forecast (of course) so we made tracks up the ICW.  The stretch between the inlet and Peck Lake is home to over 6 opening bridges all opening on set schedules.  We managed to make most of them without too much delay but only most.  It is fascinating to see how different the stretches of water are along the shore. Regular houses to landed estates.  Some well kept boats some abandoned derelicts.   Never disappoints to be interesting.
I like to look at the landscaping along the way.  House styles too.

This one definitely needed a big mower for that lawn.

I liked the arches in the bougainvillea.  I"m sure it is stunning when in full bloom.

Remote stretches are great too.  The wildlife is plentiful there.  We passed several
state parks and wildlife refuges along the way.

Osprey nests were abundant and full of mamas and babies.

We saw these touring replicas of Columbus'  ships.

Sunset at Peck Lake our stop for the night.  We had a maintenance issue that had
to be fixed and several folks came by for visits so it took a while and no time
for a walk to the beach.  Nice meeting people so it was all good.

The truly negative part about the ICW is the jerks in big power boats who rudely
pass and raise huge wakes.  This knocks thing around like crazy.  One was so massive
that the camera popped out of it's holder and hit the cockpit sole.  I had to work on it
a bit to get it to open.  Hopefully it lasts a lot long.

One of the bridges that opened up for us.  We always watch for anything that
could snag our lines running from the mast head.
