Newport, Bellvue Av.

Bellvue Av. is the street side of the mansions running along the Cliff Walk.  It was the address to have for all the "right" people.  The builders of these mansions were all from the Gilded Age Era having made their millions after they invented something or built something or invested in such ventures.  These were their summer homes away from the heat and stink of New York City. I cannot really fathom such wealth but it was fun to look at what they built for themselves.  Each mansion was so unique and the architects of the day must have lived well themselves!
Every house should have lawn art, right?

This house was across the street from the cliff side so more scaled back in size.
I really lived the peaks all over the roof line.

Another house across the streets.  It's ground and trees were so pleasing to the eye
but the really stunner was the main gable over the front entry.

The detail in the gable.  Click on the picture for the best view.

This mansion had a separate frieze between each of the windows
on both floors.  I can only imagine the cost to create them all.

A closeup of one of the friezes.  Note that the area above the windows
is also similarly decorated.

The front of the Marble House.  Maybe next time we will take the tour.

This privacy hedge was super straight with a slight camphor at the time
making it a bit unusual.

This was just impressive with the massive marble columns.
