More Charleston

One post could not cover all the sights we saw so here are some more pictures.
Our marina was along the working waterfront and huge cargo ships were a
common sight.  We were just down from the terminal where the cruise ships
dock so we saw lots of people departing for vacations.  Local harbor cruises
also left from our marina.  A hopping spot for sure.

This is a famous sculpture(to the tourist bureau anyway)
It is in the park across the street form the marina.  We passed it each
time we went out into the town.

We had shore power and our AC was on but the shade helped
keep the inside temp down and not overwork the compressor.

This dredge was working outside the marina keeping the channel
deep and wide for the cargo ships heading up the river.  It was fascinating
watching it work.

The dredge, the spoil barge, the crane barge and the tug to move it
all was quite a setup.

A short distance down the waterfront is the port where BMW drops
off cars for the US market from Germany. This was one of the ships
dropping off cars.

Since it was too hot to get out much in the daytime, I took advantage
of the downtime to make some slightly less redneck screens for the cockpit.
I had planned to make them before we left but ran out of time.  It was a huge
challenge trying to pattern them and cut them out with no space bigger than our aft
bunk.  It took a lot of tweaking but they work.  I finished 4 of 7 panels. I'm
not sure when I'll finish them but we still have the other screens.

A view of our marina, Charleston Maritime Center.

Another park along the Esplanade.

Swings in the park across the street.
