Driving on Eleuthera

Having several days of weather ahead that we weren't willing to challenge, we found a local man who rents cars and took off for a day of exploring.  With only a day, we limited our trip from revisiting the Glass Window to the north then turned around and headed south to Governor's Harbor.  I think whoever writes guide books should be given a creative writing award.  Quaint usually means old and decrepit and Unique and Unusual means really old and decrepit!  One common thread in all of the Bahamas, though, is the wonderful and friendly people.  They have a very different concept of time occasionally but Hey It's the Bahamas (the reason for anything that disappoints anybody said with a sincere and straight face).  It was a worthwhile trip as we saw a lot of the island that we would never have seen from the water.
Entrance to the Hatchet Bay Cave.  This is a local tourist attraction.
It is not run by anyone nor apparently maintained.

The cave is supposedly a mile or two long and opens out into the bight.

People have been writing on the walls since the 1800s but we didn't see
any date later than  1982.  Sadly, it is now a dead cave since people have
touched so many of the formation, stopping their growth.

The cave narrowed down to only a crawl space so we left that for others
with lights and spelunking clothes to explore.
