On the way

We were picked up at a horribly early hour by true-blue friend Mark who got us to the airport right on time, or so we thought.  Turns out the gate agents were in no hurry and didn't show up until 45 minutes later.  Oh well, time for a leisurely consumed coffee.  We had 4 large bags so we wanted to make sure there were no issues with luggage.  All were under the weight limit so clear security and off we go.  Once we hit DFW, David's sister Libby was able to join us.  She works for American and could get through security. We didn't have a long layover so it was nice of her to make the time on her day off to come out.

From DFW we were off to LAX for  a much longer layover (we're still waiting for our plane).  With that in mind we walked over to the USO.  This is a wonderful organization that really makes a difference  for GIs as they get shuffled around the globe.  We support them with donations and like to check on what they do with our money.  We're impressed with how far our $20 goes :).

The lounges always have a nice blend of the old (folks like us) and the new faces  of the U.S. military.
From there we went down to the international terminal and went through a long but friendly security check.  Hard to make that job jolly, but they tried.  We then enjoy some pre-boarding  cocktails and dinner.  I did have a picture of us together but for some reason, Outlook doesn't think you need to see it, maybe another day.  That or I broke the camera.  Boarding should begin shortly so the next post will be from Melbourne.  Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  We'll need them for the long flight!

We have made it safe and sound to the beautiful city of Inverloch in Victoria.  This is about 2 hours out of Melbourne.  Now that the computer is all charged and I'm hoping to break the code on manipulating the pictures I'll have more to post later.  Mary and I are off to Wonthaggi to get the latest series of immunizations for Franklyn.
