First Day

In Bimini, clearing customs and immigration is easy.  You fly your quarantine flag until you clear in but it's ok to leave the boat to walk to the offices.  In some countries, you must remain on the boat until an official comes to you and fills out the forms and inspects the vessel.  We came in too late to take care of it last night so we celebrated getting into the slip without damage with the folks who came in right behind us.  They watched the show of our getting in then gladly took our help  getting themselves safely into their slip.  They had much less drama, thank goodness. This morning it was off to make ourselves official visitors and see a bit before we came back to make things more orderly on the boat.  Passages tend to make things all out of sorts. I can't stay below too long or I get really seasick so things have a tendency to just be tossed somewhere.  Things are getting sorted and we'll head out exploring later.  We're at Brown's Marina and the WiFi is good so I should be able to do updates while we're here.  No idea how long that will be but the weather will decide.
Our quarantine flags identifies us as new arrivals.

The gates to Brown's Marina.

We'll have to reread this book now and see what else he said about Bimini.  There are spots in town identifying themselves as places both Hemingway and Martin Luther King, Jr. visited.

King's highway, so named from the time that The Bahamas were a
British protectorate.  It's obvious that is has been a long while since
English money was invested  here.

If you expand this one you can read that it is a supermarket.  No Albertson's or Publix's here!

Our Bahamian courtesy flag is up.  We're officially here!
