Saint Pete Boat Show and More

Some pictures from our wanderings.

Our first night in the area was at the municipal marina.  A huge complex covering
three basins.  That night we  were entertained by small kids racing in Optimist Prams.
One girl kept screaming "Starboard" continuously to make sure no one would hit her.

Our slip neighbors really know how to relax in a beautiful setting.  We did
wonder if the boat ever leaves the slip or is just a weekend getaway.

Tropicana Field is always an interesting site since it leans at such an angle.

Our slip at the yacht club is very close to the seawall and the main road along the water.
This gives us front row seats to watch all the walkers, joggers and other beautiful people go by.
There is a great park with tons of holiday decorations just steps away.  We have really
enjoyed being so close to the center of life in St. Pete.

This was the view from our slip at municipal.  What a contrast between several
hundred boats, mangroves and high rise buildings all in the same setting.

These birds must know this guy is a lucky fisherman who shares.  There were quite a few
more that just wouldn't fit in the picture.  In the background is the municipal
mooring field.

This iconic building is at the end of a long pier and houses a museum, aquarium
and a restaurant.  We haven't had time to visit this trip but have really enjoyed
it in the past.

One stretch of the Pinellas trail.  This is a rails-to-trails and stretches for
a long way from the north to the south end of the county.  There are numerous
offshoots to various other places.  It is completely separate from any roadway.
I only had time to take one shot since we were trying to beat rain.  Thankfully we did!

This is only one teeny, tiny segment of the boat show.  No pictures did it justice.
I wish we were going to be around on Monday to watch them move all the
boats that are in the water.  It has to be a logistical nightmare.

The St. Pete yacht club.  One of the most elegant we have ever visited.
The compass showing we're pointind due east.
More parade and happy kids waiting to wave at Santa.

We had front row seats to the Christmas parade that started about a mile to the
west and ended up at the park about a block from us.
Just in case you wanted to see what we look at at the helm while we travel around.
Our chartplotter is very clear but we always keep track of where we are on our paper charts.
You hope the powere never goes out\.
