Regatta Tme

The Royal Defense Force is holding their first ever sailing regatta from the park just a short walk away.  We went down to watch the festivities.  We missed the practice races but even at anchor the boats look fast.  The C Class boats are fast but tough to handle and take a lot of skill. Maybe we'll see a race today.
This banner was stretched across the road at the park entrance.

Part of the C-scow fleet waiting for the next race.

The boats have these hugely long booms so carry a lot of sail.  They
are very narrow so they tip easily.

Vendors of all sorts selling food and drink.  Most seemed to represent
churches or charities.

Proud Naval officers.

The period costumes marchers were all young, maybe Jr ROTC types.

The Royal Defense Force marching band.

Fort Montague, completed in 1792 to protect the eastern entrance.

The beach on one side of the fort.
